Among several significant rarities in this strong collection of National Banknotes and easily a piece that can be considered the most desirable of just 15 known. The bank issued only large-size and this is one of just four known 1875 series notes and the finest of that quartet. Locating any example of this lovely design in an original Extremely Fine grade is challenging and simply rare with populations less than 20. Attractive blue ink at the Cashier sign and traditional brown at the President sign. It has been nearly a decade since one of the four first charter Five Dollar notes have sold with the last being a Fine graded note which brought $1,380 in a April 2009 sale.
