“We jointly and severally promise for our Selves & Partners to take this Bill…” May 1, 1741. Five Shillings. Fr. MA-87.17PR. PCGS Choice Extremely Fine-45 Details. Corner Replaced, Minor Design Redrawn, Minor Edge Tears. As illustrated.

Description: On laid watermarked fleur-de-lis within crown paper, initials “HI” at bottom of watermark. Serial No. Unissued. Unsigned. 85mm by 130mm. Uniface. A spectacular note by any accounts. The upper left corner has been reconstructed from its state in the Ford catalog, but precious little else has happened to this impressive piece. The Newman Plate note, printed from engraved copper plates at Ipswich, Essex County, and payable to James Eveleth. The eye appeal goes beyond substantial with this world-class rarity, and the bidding will likely do the same. Certain to be a focal point in a colonial- American currency cabinet.
