Virginia. May 4, 1778. Treasury of Virginia. Act of Assembly. Three Spanish Milled Dollars. Fr. VA-145b. PCGS Very Fine-25. No qualifiers. As illustrated.

Description: Thick rag paper. Serial No. 185. Plate letters “nf.” Signed by L. Wood and J, Wray. Printer uncertain. Uniface. 95mm by 68mm. An impressive note that faces up admirably, immediately calling to mind a far finer grade. Nicely margined golden paper with bold impressions in deep black, red serial number and inked signatures also bold. An exceptional note to our eyes, one that spent its time in the Ford sale as part of a group lot. Here it is as a stand-alone offering, as befits the note.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XVII, March, 2007, Part of Lot 4440.
