Virginia Currency. October 16, 1780. Act of Assembly. Two Hundred Dollars or Sixty Pounds. Fr. VA-198. PCGS Very Fine-20 Details. Small Edge Tears. As illustrated.

Description: Very thin paper. Serial No. 741. Signed by J.M. Simmons, J. Hopkins, and B. Webb. Printer uncertain. Uniface. 100mm by 80mm. “An Act for the more effectual and speedy clothing the Army.” The Ford cataloger noted “This is a rare series of notes and has always been popular…the Revolutionary flavor of this series has always made it a favorite…the majority known are damaged, flawed, and/or repaired in some way.” There’s the history, and here are our feelings. Evenly margined on all sides, printing fairly bold if somewhat faded, signatures and number sharp. This issue was how the Continental Army was funded, in part at least. History speaks loudly here.
