Undated (1834-1837) C. Bechtler Gold Dollar. Kagin-2. Rarity-6+. 28.G High, Reeded Edge. MS-61 PCGS. CAC.
This satiny and lustrous Bechtler dollar is fiery deep orange throughout with a vivid array of pink, rose, and blue iridescence on both sides. A few faint hairlines can be found hiding under the colorful toning display and under low magnification, but the register of heavy marks comes up empty for this specimen. One of just two examples of Kagin-2 called MS-62 by PCGS, and a definite candidate for an advanced cabinet of Bechtler and related pieces. Indeed, the two PCGS grading events at MS-62 and the NGC MS-64 represent the finest known pieces. This is the second finest known. This important Bechtler gold dollar has graced such cabinets as Clifford, Kagin, and most recently the Allan cabinet, and now the opportunity for stewardship is yours for the taking. Well worth your bidding consideration but be forewarned, those who will chase this lot can expect serious head-to-head competition.
