Tied for Finest Certified at NGC

Description: Dies as illustrated. The muted olive-gold surfaces offer soft luster, and a viewer will be hard-pressed to locate a significant blemish; we do see some tiny ticks at the center of the reverse upon magnified scrutiny. Tied for finest seen by NGC – no Mint State examples are reported on their Census as of this writing. For comparison, PCGS has listed 2 at AU-58 and has certified a single Uncirculated specimen, that called MS-61. That makes an aggregate of 4 coins at AU-58 and a solitary Mint State coin representing this elusive variety in high grades, at least according to the two most prominent third-party grading services. It certainly seems like an indicator of the rarity of K-6 and should serve as a beacon to a Pioneer gold specialist awaiting this exact opportunity.

NGC Census: 2; none finer.
