Treasury of the City of Albany. February 18, 1793. One-Penny. Fr. NY-271, Harris H-21. PCGS Choice Fine-15 Details. Repairs. As illustrated.

Description: Engraved signature of E. Willett, Treasurer. Printed by C.R. & G. Webster, Albany. Two-Sided. 64mm by 42mm. No doubt among the finest examples of the issue extant, tiny qualifiers and all. The golden paper is little the worse for circulation, and the black inking is still lively. “Certainly rare, and for the paper type, Choice,” wrote the Ford cataloger, a sentiment that sums up this note perfectly.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XVII, March, 2007, Lot 4490. (Ford Price Realized: $805)
