Description: Thin paper watermarked CONFEDERATION. Red interest stamp on face. Serial No. 357. Signed by Reynerd Mynderse and Evert Bancker; countersigned on back by Abraham Yates, Jr. Printed by Hall and Sellers. Two-Sided, red inking on verso. 93mm by 72mm. A pleasing note, a bit rounded at the corners, but nicely inked and signed, and decidedly choice for the grade. Another of the nearly countless notes of superior quality offered here. “Any note from this issue is a key note, and this is the first genuine note from the Act we have cataloged. The series was missing completely from many important Colonial America sales such as Affleck-Ball in 1975, and the James DuPont Sale by Smythe in 1993,” wrote the Ford cataloger. Other than some stains cleared up by conservation, the note is precisely as offered in the Ford sale. Here is an opportunity as rare as the note itself!

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XV, October, 2006, Lot 8935. (Ford Price Realized: $3,737.50)
