Description: Coarse paper watermarked NEW JERSEY. Serial No. 3497. Signed by Jas. Ewing and James Mott. Two-Sided, black both sides. Leaf back. Printed by Isaac Collins, Trenton. Standard size. Tis Death To Counterfeit. A spectacular note from this rare issue, a note that graced the pages of the Newman reference, and a note with a substantial pedigree as well. This is the first time since the Ford event that this many notes of this issue have been offered anywhere. We have gathered five examples - representing four different denominations - in the present catalog, including a duplicate of this major rarity that immediately follows the present note. Nicely margined with strong details and eye appeal that readily befits a finer grade.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XV, October, 2006, Lot 8301. (Ford Price Realized: $2,990)
