State of New-Jersey. December 20, 1783 Act. Thirty Shillings. Fr. NJ-208. PCGS Very Fine-20 Details. Repairs. As illustrated.

Description: Thinner stock than for lower denominations, watermarked NEW JERSEY. Serial No. 1598. Signed by Jas. Ewing and James Mott. Two-Sided, black both sides. Leaf back. Printed by Isaac Collins, Trenton. Standard size. Tis Death To Counterfeit. A final offering from the rare December 20, 1783 New-Jersey issues, this note represents the highest of the denominations. The present Thirty Shillings note, lightly faded though it is, is still among the finest known examples of the denomination! This series of late 1783 was withdrawn from circulation and mostly canceled or destroyed, accounting for the extraordinary rarity of all of the denominations today. As the Ford specialist noted regarding the present note: “It is what it is and is virtually irreplaceable.”
