South Carolina. March 6, 1776. Resolve of Congress Two Shillings and Six Pence. Fr. SC-114. PCGS Very Good-10 Details. Repairs, Double Backed. As illustrated.

Description: Laid paper. Serial No. possibly 2758, very faded. Signed by N. Russell and T. Jones. Printed by Peter Timothy, official printer of the Colony and later, the State, succeeding his father, Lewis, in the position. Uniface, black and red face. 45mm by 83mm. Fine enough in-hand to warrant the grade, the colors still pop though somewhat faint. Boyd’s pencil code “iyxy” on back paper strip. Originally a part of a two-piece lot in Ford, the present note stands on its own today. “These are very rare notes,” wrote the Ford cataloger, words to remember when bidding time comes around.

Pedigree: From Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XV, October, 2006, Part of Lot 8700. (Ford Price Realized: $2,070, the lot)
