Rev: large laurel wreath with berries, INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION at upper rim, AWARDED TO closes top of wreath, GEO. CUMMING & CO. / FOR / ENGINE LATHE / WITH NEW AND USEFUL DEVICES engraved in fancy Spencerian script on four lines within wreath, 1883 incused on lozenge at very bottom. Dies by Alfred Kuner. Impressively scarce in silver as a rule, each of the San Francisco Mechanic’s Institutes medals is unique when made out to an individual or firm.
