Rare Fr. 1079a St. Louis Note Fr. 1079a. 1914 $100 Federal Reserve Note. Red Seal. St. Louis. PMG Very Fine 30. Another stunning $100 Red Seal note that will certainly grab collector attention. These "a" type notes are the more difficult of the two varieties for the St. Louis district and Track & Price shows this piece as part of just a dozen known serial numbers. The note has enough appeal to make claims to a grade at the Extremely Fine level and certainly is as nice as any in a 35 holder we have seen. Bold overprinting and traces of original embossing are seen and nice centering completes the look. The most recent sale for the catalog number came in a 2015 auction where a PCGS Extremely Fine 40 note brought $25,850.
