Province of ye Massachusetts Bay. January 15, 1741/42. Two Pence, New Tenor (Eight Pence Old Tenor). Fr. MA-88. PGCS Extremely Fine-45 Details. Repaired Edge Splits, Masking. As illustrated.

Description: Sturdy laid paper, notes printed by Kneeland and Green, though not inscribed as such. Serial No. 1699. Signed by Roland Cotton, in red, and J. Choate, in black. 95mm by 116mm. Two-Sided. An extremely rare issue, not only in a collecting sense, but for the overall condition offered here as well. Called a “phenomenal” note in Ford, its careful conservation has left it in that same category. The visuals on this note are exceptional, and any tiny flaws will be quickly overlooked by informed collectors. Probably as nice as one can obtain for the issue. Bruce Hagen, primary Ford cataloger, wrote “In all likelihood, an upgrade will never be necessary for this jewel. An extremely important issue.” Nearly as fresh and crisp as the day it was printed, and an absolute highlight of this offering.
