Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England. Redated 1740. One Shilling. Fr. MA-56r. PCGS Choice Very Fine-35 Details. Severed and Reattached, Minor Design Redrawn. As illustrated.

Description: Sturdy, thin card stock paper. Serial No. 6528. Signed by A. (Adam the Younger?) Winthrop and John Jeffries. 105mm by 130mm. Scrolled vine and leaves at back top. A rare prize no matter the grade. These small denomination notes were the backbone of commerce for the smaller things in life, and they circulated widely. That any examples survive today speaks volumes on the collecting - and hoarding - habits of our forebears. Readily one of the finest known examples from this rare redated issue.
