Province of Pennsylvania. June 21, 1759. Five Pounds Indented Bill. Fr. PA-104. PCGS Very Fine-25 Details. Design Redrawn, Small Internal Repair, Paper Pulls. As illustrated.

Description: Thinner paper. Serial No. 3420. Plate B. Signed by Jos. Morris, H. Harrison, and Peter Reeve. Two-Sided, red and black ink both sides. Once backed by paper. Printed by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall. Printed Leaves back design. 85mm by 67mm. To Counterfeit Is Death. A bright and colorful example of a rare and elusive note from an equally rare issue, withdrawn and redeemed by order of the Crown. The redemption efforts resulted in a recall of 35,795 Pounds on the series, leaving but 865 Pounds in notes for posterity. Posterity, by the way, has not been overly generous with its leavings from the June 21, 1759 issue. The present note, qualifiers and all, is a visual treat. Indeed, the Ford writer opined the note was “worthy of professional restoration, since if the mounting remnants ‘float’ off this, it might be one of the finest notes known or the rare issue.” Do not be shy at bidding time if you mean to capture this crisp prize.
