Province of Pennsylvania. August 1, 1744. Eighteen Pence Indented Bill. Fr. PA-47. PCGS Very Good-10 Details. Multiple Repairs, Minor Design Redrawn. As illustrated.

Description: Thin fragile paper. Serial No. 1961. Plate C. Signed by A. Chapman, Peter Lloyd (faint), and Ja. Morris. Uniface. Printed by Benjamin Franklin. 86mm by 68mm. Deep golden paper hosts modestly faded designs and signatures, but the overall appeal is strong. Rare in any grade. “The grade is quite acceptable for the rarity,” wrote the Ford cataloger, and we concur. It will not be a frequent occurrence for an example of this note to come to auction – or a bourse floor for that matter – and wise bidders are already fast at work on their bidding strategy.

Pedigree: From Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part III, May, 2004, Lot 643. (Ford Price Realized: $891.25)
