Province of New Hampshire. April 3, 1755, Redated June 1, 1756. Three Pounds or Four Spanish Mill’d Dollars. Fr. NH-98. PCGS Choice Fine-15 Details. Multiple Repairs, Severed and Reattached. As illustrated.

Description: Laid Paper. Serial No. 5320. Signed by D. Warner, Hen. Sherburne, and Theodore Atkinson. 135mm, by 85mm. Uniface. This extremely rare New Hampshire note was printed to fund the Crown Point Expedition. The note appears much the same as it did in the Ford sale. “Old Tenor” inked on verso, as is the name H. Robie. As noted in the Ford catalog: “If counterfeit, unlisted in Newman, if not, still extremely rare. The signatures are not well accomplished and bidders may be swayed to the course that the note is from a spurious plate.” Mounted on a paper backing sheet, now removed but offered as part of this lot; Boyd’s penciled “eiyx” on backing sheet. An important note, one of the few of the issue to ever come to auction in recent memory. Pleasing to the eye, and choice for the grade.
