Province of Georgia. 1755. Twenty Shillings. Fr. GA-25. PCGS Good-6 Details – Severed and Reattached, Tape Repairs. As illustrated.

Description: Printed in Charleston, South Carolina on thin, fragile paper. 121mm by 88mm. Serial No. 1465. Signed by Fra. Harris, Clement Martin, Edmund Tannatt, Jam. E. Powell, and Henry Yonge. The back of this rare prize was reinforced with tape decades ago; the tape still bears Wayte Raymond’s penciled “hrax” cost code. Foxing and staining, but surprisingly eye-catching for the grade. This Twenty Shillings note represents the highest denomination among the four 1755-dated issues. This and the three lesser denomination notes are all rare to extremely rare, and many are the cabinets that only hope to procure a note of this date. Here is the sole opportunity in the current sale to work your magic and bring this 1755-dated Georgia rarity home.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Wayte Raymond; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part III, May, 2004, Lot 748. (Ford Price Realized: $2,990)
