Dies: as illustrated above. Bright and lustrous silver with varied gray highlights throughout, the medal suspended from a pinback with yellow and pale blue ribbon. Awarded to Clara Fitzgerald Mann. The central beaver in the medal’s design is suggestive of the 1796 Castorland tokens of upstate New York. According to the Society’s current website, “The National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York has been managing the preservation of Van Cortlandt House Museum since 1897. Our Society was the first of the National Societies (NSCDA) to manage a museum property.” [50-100]
