Dies: as illustrated above. This handsome high relief piece is deep golden-tan with satiny, mattelike surfaces throughout. The obverse depiction of Neptune is struck in particularly high relief. This is the finest example of HK-589a certified by NGC. This so-called dollar celebrates three specific dates: 1856, when the Nassau Water Works project commenced; 1858 when electricity produced through the project first came to Brooklyn; and 1859, when a celebration was held in April of that year. The present specimen is far superior in quality to an MS-63 specimen that brought $998.75 in a March, 2014 Heritage sale. Advanced so-called dollar fans will love this specimen. [500-600] NGC Census: 1; none finer.
