N. Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Authority of Congress at Halifax. One Sixteenth of a Dollar. Fr. NC-153a. PCGS Choice Very Fine-35 Details. Small Edge Repairs. As illustrated.

Description: Laid paper. Serial No. 4787. Signed by McCulloch and Bradford. Uniface. 75mm by 50mm. Beetle vignette. Crisp and nicely centered with full designs, warm beige paper, and strong inking. Several period mathematical equations on verso. “These lower denomination notes are rare and generally seen chipped and flawed, when encountered at all,” wrote the Ford specialist. That an example of this caliber survives today represents an historic testament to great collectors like Boyd and Ford. Bid accordingly for this prize, as it may not be available again for another generation.
