Dies signed A.A. Weinman FECT, and illustrated above. This frosty gem specimen exhibits lively orange-red iridescence, no doubt its original appearance, beneath a bold and eye-catching patina of chocolate-brown and chestnut red. The medal’s designer, A.A. Weinman, is best known to numismatists as the creator of the 1916 “Mercury” dime and its Walking Liberty half dollar counterpart of the same year. Choice to the eye with an enormous amount of aesthetic appeal, this specimen is fit enough for any American Exposition medals cabinet currently being formed. Housed in a super-jumbo NGC holder befitting the medal’s size.
