Description: Rigid thin stock with inverted cursive ‘MS’ watermark. No Serial number. Unsigned. 81mm by 98mm. Uniface, reverse Remainder or “Proof” of the Gill Pine Tree vignette. The Ford write-up notes “the nomenclature of ‘Proof’ or ‘Remainder’ for this is argumentative. However, a Remainder back awaiting the face printing would be on an untrimmed sheet. This impression is broadly and evenly margined. Therefore, we believe it is an ‘Archival’ type specimen.” Boyd’s penciled “mryx” on verso. An exceptional piece with every turn. The light curation did not substantially alter the aesthetics of the note, and we feel any collector will be amply pleased to make this an addition to his or her burgeoning collection.
