LDS Obverse
Description: The even steel-gray surfaces exhibit silver-gray highlights, especially on the reverse. A suitable coin to the naked eye, but low magnification reveals some scattered marks that might suggest ground recovery long ago for this piece. Nicely centered on both sides with the rim barely grazing the tops of IN on the obverse. Late Die State: a cud has formed at the lowest obverse rosette, engaging all but the two rightmost dots, and from there shooting an advanced, heavy crack up to the beads underlying IN. This die state is not seen, or even hinted at, in the photos of the four examples of Noe-16 sold in the Ford Collection. Certain to pique the curiosity of an advanced Massachusetts Bay Colony silver coinage specialist.
