Title: Massachusetts Bay Colony. 1652 Oak Tree Shilling. Noe-7, Cr.1b-D, W.480. IN at Bottom. Rarity-5. VF.
Header:
Description: 71.0 grains. This scarce Oak Tree Shilling variety has clear details, though likely cleaned long-ago. This late die state is illustrated in Noe on page 131, plate 11, as Reverse Die State-G, this late advanced die state being typical of Noe-7, struck from a re-engraved obverse die. The reverse has distinctive die breaks which are easily seen and as made. The central Oak Tree is sharp and clear for the variety and die state. At 71.0 grains, its weight is correct based on the 72 grains standard for official weight.
