Likely Unique Ribbed Frame 24 cent Irving House, Hunt & Nash Irving House, Hunt & Nash. 24 Cents, Ribbed Frame. HB-158, EP-170, S-111a. Extremely Fine. One of the rarest encasements in this stunning collection and a piece that is believed to be known by just this piece, with rumors of another. Reed only lists five auction appearances in their reference for a time period of 104 years. The item has been offered twice since then appearing in both the Mayer and Kelly collections. The type was completely absent in the Ford sale which further attests to the ultimate rarity involved.

The frame shows nicely pronounced ribs and just a pair of small dents at the left tab while the case is very lovely with a tan tone evenly throughout. The mica shows a horizontal crack and some crazing mostly at the lower portion although the clarity is still pleasing. Some tone to the stamp is mentioned but the overall appeal remains very strong for this remarkable numismatic treasure.
