Of the five banks to issue currency in this Armstrong County town, this National Bank of Kittanning and the First National Bank are by far the rarest. This stunning mid-grade twenty is one of just five known on the charter with a quartet of 1875 $10 notes and this single $20. The quality again is outstanding and is rare even as a type. Still bold banking signatures remain and even circulation allows for nice detail of the vignettes at front and the important Baptism of Pocahontas scene at back. Pleasing centering and margins and bold red overprints further the allure. Track and Price shows only a pair of the known $10 to have sold publicly in recent memory with the last being a 2002 offering by Stack's which brought $1,207.50. This unique twenty should see a significantly higher realization with todays more aggressive market.
