日本 甲州松木二分金 玩賞品 金銀図録 3-21 約7.35g PCGS XF (ツーリング )

A rare denomination being the only round 2 Bu in KGZ. Most of the coins minted at Koshu were 1 Bu which still exist in the thousands. The obverse has three punches: "Matsuki" and the denomination 2 Bu. The Matsuki clan was one of the families authorized to mint gold coins in Koshu. The reverse has a crude surface texture and one punch. This coin is pictured in book 3 of KGZ that is dedicated to the coins of Koshu province and this type possibly dates as far back as the early 1600's. Production of gold coinage went into the 1800's. Koshu coins are significant as being the first Japanese coins to have denominations based on a standardized system. No other round 2 Bu gold coins have come to market in recent memory. This specimen has very boldly punched stamps and shows only moderate evidence of wear or use. Tooling is noted by PCGS, but very minor. Weight 7.35g
