日本 甲州一両判金 玩賞品 金銀図録 3-7 竹川 135 約15.8g 約83.54%

Large round 1 ryo gold with a weight of 5 monme 5 bu. The seal of Daimyo Takeda Shingen on the right, Matsuki clan maker's mark on left, and large paulownia flower on top. Takeda Shingen gained control of the gold mining around the Koshu area and gave four family clans the rights to make gold coins. The Matsuki clan's stamp is the most commonly seen of Koshu gold coins that survive. The 1 bu or smaller gold coins are considered to be coins and circulated locally. This larger size is considered a fantasy issue, but this type may have been used for presentation purposes. It's unclear when this particular piece may have been minted, however Koshu coin production began in the late 1500's and lasted into the 1800's. Some scratches on the obverse noted. (Gold 83.54%, Silver 16.07%, Copper 0.408%) Weight 15.8g.
