Group of (4) Different Brass Counterfeit A. Bechtler Gold Dollars. Kagin-CTF-11 (K-24 Reverse). 27 G, 21 C. Carolina Gold. Plain Edge. Rarity-6 for Type.
Variations on a theme – no two are from the same die pairs. Though called Rarity-6 for the overall Kagin-CTF rating, each of these is unique in its own right despite the Kagin- 24 connection. Included are: AU. Olive-gold. 27 grains. Numeral 7 canted sharply to left, 2(7 G) directly above 2(1C), lower 2 canted wildly to right, 1 low, large G, large C leans sharply left. Reverse lettering small and near center, 1 with comical floppy flag. EF. Orange-gold. 22 grains. Numeral 7 upright, lower 2 similar to above position but even with 1, small G, small C leans left. Both sides convex. VF. Olive-gold with trace amounts of gold gilt in the protected areas. 25 grains. Numeral 7 upright, 27 G widely spaced, lower 2 completely right of upper 2, low compared to 1G, and sharply tilted to the right, large G slightly high and leaning slightly left, C leans sharply left and rests on stop. VG, pitted. Bright yellow gold now darkening after a long-ago cleaning. 27 grains. Numeral 2 high and leaning left, 7 upright, G low and leaning right, bottom of lower 2 as high as top of adjacent 1, large, thin C leaning just left. Tall 1 low in center of reverse. An intriguing group that could provide hours of interesting die study and comparisons. (Total: 4 pieces)

Obverse: CAROLINA GOLD. around rim from 8 to 4 o’clock, 27.G. at center, 21.C. at rim below.
Reverse: Numeral 1 at center, A.BECHTLER. arcs above, DOL: and a five-pointed star curve below.
