Title: Giraffe Tails
Description: "Among all the tribes in East Africa," Stuart Mosher wrote in 1936, "the tails of giraffes are highly prized, and form a considerable article of trade." To avert extinction, the British declared giraffe tails contraband, but they were still hunted for their valuable tails. This lot contains four old objects made from giraffe tail hair; see Opitz, pp. 149-50 (both examples illustrated on p. 150 included).
