Title: German States. Saxony. Johan Georg II. 1657 Thaler. Davenport-7630. MS-65 NGC.
Description: Dies as illustrated. This is a memorable 17th-century thaler in all regards. The deep steel-gray surfaces are somewhat prooflike and come alive with lively shades of blue, rose, and peach iridescence in a bold light source. The strike is nothing shy of magnificent, displaying as it does the horse’s individual hairs, the tiny blades of grass and flowers, the beads in the crown – we could go on but you see the picture by now. The reverse inscription is likewise sharp and crisp. The finest certified by NGC! Whether you are a thaler specialist or a numismatist who simply enjoys the finest the hobby has to offer, this exceptional coin is destined for a place of prominence in your cabinet.

NGC Census: 1; none finer.
