Title: German States. Landau. 1713 Florin or 4 Kreuzer. KM-12. Klippe. Uniface. MS-64 NGC.
Description: Dies as illustrated. A simply outstanding example of the siege coinage of Prince Karl Alexander of Wurttemberg, issued while defending the city against French forces, June 25-August 20, 1713. The flawless steel-gray surfaces offer lustrous rose highlights, along with a strike that is bold in all quarters on the obverse. The finest of just two Uncirculated examples of KM-12 certified by NGC, the other called MS-62 and unseen by us. This specimen could easily claim “finest known” honors, and there are probably not enough comparable specimens about nowadays that the claim could be easily disputed.
NGC Census: 1; none finer.
