Header: Choice AU Double Thaler of Leopold
Title: German States. Austria. Hall Mint. Leopold I, the Hogmouth. Circa 1686-1696 Double Thaler. Dav-3252. AU-58 NGC.
Description: 47 mm. Dies as illustrated. An exemplary example of Leopold the Hogmouth’s silver coinage, though chances are no one ever called him “Hogmouth” to his face and got away with it. The deep steel surfaces offer boldly rendered devices, especially on the reverse where every tiny detail of the eagle is present. Mark-free with soft underlying luster and attractive golden toning highlights. Housed in a jumbo-sized NGC holder.
