Title: Fr. NC-211 North Carolina December 29, 1785 2s/6p PCGS Very Fine 25
Description: This is a sensational note and the RAREST NORTH CAROLINA COLONIAL NOTE in this sale. The PCGS and PMG population reports list this note as one of only three known making this example a Rarity 8 (1-3 known). Further review of the census will reveal that one of the three known examples has been severed and reattached. On the left side there is a Phoenix vignette in superb detail with the motto MELIOR RESURGIO, which translates to "I return improved." Dark signatures of John Hunt and Absalom Tatom deserves mention along with an elaborate 15560 serial number. This note is well margined on two sides and complete on the other two. Light circulation throughout is seen and minor mounting remnants is mentioned by PCGS for grading accuracy. This is an exceedingly rare item that will be the highlight in any significant colonial note collection.
