Fr. 368. 1890 $10 Treasury Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
These 1890 and 1891 series Treasury Notes were some of the most publicly adorned Federal Currency to have been issued, both past and present. During their circulation period, they were redeemable “In Coin,” allowing the bearer to turn them in for either Gold or Silver. This trait however would result in the banknotes being extensively circulated and favored over other contemporary notes. Most found today are in very low grade and pristine Gem examples, such as this offering, are a true treasure. Original, nicely centered and with bold inks, certainly deserving of the 66 EPQ grade.
