Fr. 114. 1901 $10 Legal Tender. PMG Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ.
This coveted design always is among the top candidates when luring collectors into the realm of collectible paper money. The prominent central vignette of an American Bison at center combines perfectly with the left and right portrait vignettes of Lewis and Clark respectively. The design replaced the aging 1869 to 1880 series of $10 Legal Tender notes which all carried the same basic face design with slight alterations through the years. The note offered here is the first catalog number of the series with Lyons – Roberts signatures.
The quality of this example is stunning and among the finest this cataloger has seen. PMG has graded just a few at this high level with none grading finer. The originality is immediately noticed with stunning detail in both the primary engraving and overprints. Deeply embossed serial numbers and the treasury seal along with picture perfect centering can also be credited to the lofty assigned grade by PMG. When searching for maximum appeal for this iconic type, look no further.
