Extremely Rare Rattlesnake Bar Documents. Set of (2) Gold Rush Documents of 1855 & 1857 Wells Fargo from Rattlesnake Bar Town. Two great California Gold Rush Documents. These documents are from the small placer mining town of Rattlesnake Bar; which is now below waters of the Folsom Dam. Both are from Wells Fargo Express company.

The first document is a Wells Fargo & Co.’s, Express shipping Receipt for TREASURE shipping receipt sending 37 ounces of gold dust from Ben Dougherty to the famous coin makers assayers Kellogg and Co. San Francisco for coining. A bright extremely fine document with bold writing.

The second is a SECOND Bill of Exchange 1857 Wells Fargo Express (the only one ever seen from Rattlesnake) sending $300 to the New York office. Very fine or better with good centering and margins and three sides and sharp corners.

This is a wonderful Ghost Town Gold Rush Paper Rarities. Includes a reproduction of the earliest photo of the town of Rattlesnake.
