Although about 80 large-size are known on this bank, the majority are all 1902 series notes and the average grade is quite lot. This beautiful offering goes against both the trends and is one of just three first charter notes in the census. A single other Five and Ten Dollar make up the trio and the quality here trumps both. A census grade of Extremely Fine is attributed to this piece and it is easy to see why. The appeal is magnificent with lovely centering, bold inks in all regards and completely original paper. The back design showcasing the Landing of Columbus is particularly pleasing and interestingly shows the vignette, obligations and counterfeit clause slightly shifted upwards and into the bordering design.
