Current Money of Virginia. Act of Assembly Passed October 12, 1758. Three Pounds or Twelve Crowns. Fr. VA-22. PCGS Choice Fine-15 Details. Repairs, Backed. As illustrated.

Description: Thin laid paper. Serial No. 2057. Signed by Peyton Randolph, who served in the Continental Congress years later, and Ro. C. Nicholas. Printed by William Hunter. Uniface. 85mm by 61mm. Endorsed in pen numerous times on the back, even across the strip of paper that patched the note countless years ago. Rare and important, and a fetching note in spite of its shortcomings. Deep golden paper, strong inking, and bold serial number and signature. Missing from more cabinets than not, this lot offers the opportunity to correct that situation, but only for one successful bidder.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part III, May, 2004, Lot 835. (Ford Price Realized: $977.50)
