Current Money of Virginia. Act of Assembly Passed October 12, 1758. One Shilling. Fr. VA-15. PCGS Very Fine-20 Details. Repairs, Severed and Reattached. As illustrated.

Description: Thin laid paper. Serial No. 19438. Signed by Edm. Pendleton. Printed by William Hunter. Uniface. 93mm by 62mm. An altogether pleasing example on many levels. The paper is fairly crisp and golden in nature, and though a trifle faded, the inking and signature are outstanding. Verso with period signature and date of 1763. A rarity in any grade, and its performance in the Ford sale illuminates the extreme scarcity of the issue. This lovely note will be well-attended at bidding time.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part VIII, January, 2005, Lot 1646. (Ford Price Realized: $2,760)
