Current Money of Virginia. Act of Assembly Passed June 8, 1757. Twenty Shillings. Fr. VA-10CF. PCGS Very Fine-20 Details. Repairs, Severed and Reattached. As illustrated.

Description: Thin laid paper. Serial No. 8211. “Signed” by Ben. Waller and Phil. Johnson. Printer unknown, styled after the plates of William Hunter. Uniface. 80mm by 67mm. A Contemporary Counterfeit note, but still of the finest order and quality. Listed in Newman as counterfeit, and verified by John Ford’s notes as such. “Counterfeit” hand-penned next to the signatures, and again on the verso. Additional writing on back as well. Paper still crisp, somewhat toned but attractive nonetheless. “A very rare counterfeit from this early Act, “ noted the Ford writer. A great study note and an important specialty note from the early Virginia Act.

Pedigree: Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part III, May, 2004, Lot 833. (Ford Price Realized: $1,265)
