Current Money of Virginia. Act of Assembly Passed April 5, MDCCLIX (1759). Twenty Shillings. Fr. VA-29. PCGS Very Good-10 Details. Multiple Repairs, Design Redrawn, Backed, Signatures Redrawn. As illustrated.

Description: Sturdier laid paper. Serial No. 4582. Signed by Ben. Waller and Phil. Johnson. Printed by William Hunter. Uniface. 85mm by 65mm. An aesthetically appealing note, especially given the assigned grade. The lightly toned paper plays host to moderately faded impressions, tight all around the margins. Backed by toned white paper that shows traces of a long-ago faded signature, but with “1773” still plainly visible. Rare, choice for the grade, and not a “garden variety” note by any means.

Pedigree: From Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part VIII, January, 2005, Lot 1650. (Ford Price Realized: $368)
