Current Money of Virginia. Act of Assembly Passed April 5, MDCCLIX (1759). Five Pounds or Twenty Crowns or 100 Shillings. Fr. VA-32. PCGS Very Good-10 Details. Multiple Repairs, Reassembled. As illustrated.

Description: Frail, thin laid paper. Serial No. 335. Signed by Peyton Randolph and Ro. C. Nicholas. Printed by William Hunter. Uniface. 87mm by 65mm. Once backed, the original backing sheet included in the lot. Both the note and the backing sheet are endorsed several times and include mathematical conversions. What a neat situation for a collector – it’s practically two notes for the price of one. The Newman Plate Note. Face inking only moderately faded in places, signatures faint but readable. This is a rare note on a rare Act, acknowledged as such in Ford III with strong bidding and a premium hammer figure.

Pedigree: From Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part III, May, 2004, Lot 837. (Ford Price Realized: $3,220)
