Common-Wealth of Pennsylvania. April 10, 1777. Four Pence or A Groat. Fr. PA-210. PCGS Gem Uncirculated-65. No qualifiers. As illustrated.

Description: Rigid stock watermarked PENNSYLVANIA. Serial No. 140991. Plate C. Signed by Wm. Kenly, in red. Two-Sided. Printed by John Dunlap. To Counterfeit Is Death. Smaller format. Pennsylvania spelling in text. A beautiful note, if such a thing can be said about a piece of paper. The centering is fine all around, and the ink quality appears fresh and strong. Simply too fine to be hidden away in a multi-piece lot the way it appeared in Ford. Imminently worthy of hearty bidding activity, and easily one of the nicest notes of the issue we’ve handled.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XVII, March, 2007, Part of Lot 4270. (Ford Price Realized: $690, the lot)
