Colony of the Massachusetts Bay. June 18, 1776. Two Dollars or Twelve Shillings. Fr. MA-207. PCGS Very Fine-25 Details. Small Edge Repair. As illustrated.

Description: Coarse paper. Printed by Benjamin Edes. Serial No. 553. Signed by C. Davis and Abner Ellis. 70mm by 91mm. Two-Sided. Paul Revere’s ever-popular "Sword In Hand" vignette now resides, in a smaller size, on the face of the note. Not photographed in Ford, but the written description “an attractive note” still applies. Simply an excellent example of this rare type, virtually unchanged since its appearance in Ford some 17 years ago. A great start for a type run or a run on the denominations for this scarce issue.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XV, October, 2006, Lot 8200. (Ford Price Realized: $1,955)
