Colony of the Massachusetts Bay. July 8, 1775. Twelve Shillings. Fr. MA-152. PCGS Very Fine-20 Details. Repairs, Backed Annotation. As illustrated.

Description: Hole Canceled. Printed on laid paper from plate engraved by Paul Revere. Serial No. 443. Signed by Fuller and Gardner. 174mm by 74mm. Uniface. A note that has a solid in-hand look, with the vertical creases seen in the Ford catalog now skillfully repaired and much less obvious. Faintly penciled notation on upper right corner of the back, perhaps in Henry Chapman’s hand, reads “Gift from Mr. Maristen (?) 5-8-1920.” Another denomination that saw a production run of just 667 notes. Rare.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part X, May, 2005, Lot 4640. (Ford Price Realized: $1,265)
