Colony of Rhode Island. Warwick. December 2, 1740. Ten Shillings. Fr. RI-40. PCGS Choice Fine-15 Details. Multiple Repairs, Severed and Reattached, Minor Design Redrawn. As illustrated.

Description: Laid paper. Serial No. 117. Signed by Daniel Updike, J. Gardner, and J. Brenton. Printed by John Coddington. Two-Sided. 85mm by 115mm. Boldly inked face and back impressions grace the deep manila paper of this rarity. Endorsed on the back in period hand and ink “Dan Marble his Bill.” An undeniably genuine example of this rare Ten Shillings note, as attested to by the Ford writer and John J. Ford, Jr. himself. A note that has fared well from careful conservation, and one that faces up nicely to in-hand inspection. A beneficiary of bold bidding activity in the Ford catalog. This one will not come easy at bidding time.
