Colony of Rhode Island. Providence. November 6, 1775. Three Shillings. Fr. RI-212. PCGS Very Fine-30 Details. Repairs. As illustrated.

Description: Laid paper. Serial No. 3383. Signed by John Dexter, in red, and John G. Wanton. Printed by John Carter. Uniface. 70mm by 103mm. A boldly impressed note with inking that remains strong throughout much of its expanse. Bright paper, tightly margined all around, design crowded but not interrupted. “The embossing shows through the back and this is a lovely example of a note that when seen, is normally in frayed Good condition,” wrote Bruce Hagen in Ford Part XV. We can assure you with complete confidence that this note is not a “frayed, Good condition” example. All kidding aside, the present VF Three Shillings note belongs in a somewhat advanced type note or specialized Rhode Island collection.
